My New Favorite Breakfast

I created a breakfast that I just can’t stop eating. I also believe that this meal is helping me to be healthier and more regular considering the amount of fiber and cultures in it.

I’ve also read where your intestinal microbiome status is very important to good health and managing weight loss. So here’s the very simple recipe:

I start chopping one organic apple and throw away the core. Then, simmer the pieces in about three tablespoons of grass fed butter. While that is cooking, I prepare the dry ingredients.

In a medium sized cereal bowl, I take three heaping tablespoons of steel cut oatmeal, a small scoop of a premade mixture of flaxseeds, hempseeds and chia seeds.

Next I add generous sprinkles of the following spices: cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg, ground cloves, and one little sprinkle of pink Himalayan salt. Remember to stir your chopped apples occasionally while you are doing this part.

I also add to these ingredients: a handful of chopped walnuts, a handful of the following dried berries: blueberries, cranberries and black currants. A little bit of lemon juice or dried lemon powder also adds a nice flavor.

Toss these dry ingredients together and add them now to the softened and cooked (but not overcooked) apples along with a half cup of distilled water. This makes it easier to mix. Stir and simmer another five minutes or so.

This will start to smell amazing as the spices and apples simmer together. I actually think that this moment is my favorite part of this breakfast. But keep stirring and simmering until it kinda looks like a baked apple crunch.

Now you’re ready to transfer this yummy delight to the same bowl you mixed the dry ingredients in. Less dishes to washes afterwards is always a plus.

Top this off with two scoops of organic cool and creamy yogurt. I choose the plain unsweetened kind but you can use any variety you like. I like to pair this dish with a few strips of uncured bacon to add about 18 grams of protein to my meal.

And you know I’m going to enjoy this new favorite breakfast with a big cup of decaf coffee. I sweeten my coffee with organic coconut sugar and coconut cream powder and a teaspoon of unsweetened baking cocoa just for flair.

If you try this recipe and you love it, mention it in the comments. If you don’t like it, you can always add more of your favorite sweetener. I don’t like my food too sweet, so it’s just right for me but I think most people would drizzle a little honey on top. Whatever is best for you. But enjoy!!
