And the number one recommendation is always sauerkraut, then yogurt, etc. but I’m trying to avoid dairy and I can hardly even stand the smell of sauerkraut, never mind eat it.
So I started googling ways to eat sauerkraut. Of course, hot dogs and sausages are at the top of the list. However, towards the bottom was tuna salad.
I thought, what? the? heck? That was hard for me to imagine but then I decided to let my creativity flow. And to my incredible surprise, this tuna salad is very delicious.
I started gathering all my usual spices and my usual healthy ingredients that I normally added to my smoothie and then I tried to think of what else might be good in it.
Here’s the ingredient list:
White tuna
Pink salt/black pepper
Sage
Garlic powder
Parsley flakes
Turmeric
Chili powder
Ground ginger
Chopped onions
Chopped celery
Crushed walnuts
Rotel mild
Barberries
Chia seeds
Flax seeds
Whole avocado
Sauerkraut
Avocado oil mayonnaise
Lemon juice
Is that everything? I think so. I guess that’s 20 ingredients. And the cool part is that I can’t really even taste the sauerkraut because there are so many other flavors.
At this point, most everything was in the bowl except the whole avocado and the mayonnaise. I chose this avocado oil mayonnaise because I’m avoiding soybean oil.
I chopped up the whole avocado into the bowl and added the mayonnaise and mixed these ingredients very well. It is beginning to smell really good with all those spices.
